Salvage aka Gruesome (2006): You Must See This Movie

The following movie is in the Good category:

Salvage is the story of a young woman named Claire (Lauren Currie Lewis) who keeps being murdered over and over by the same guy (Duke, played by Chris Farey), who himself is prone to being shot to death by the police. She keeps on trying to find out why this is happening to her. Everyone around her is acting strange, including her boyfriend (Jimmy, played by Cody Darbe) who sometimes tags along but has a strange smile suggesting he's letting more than he's letting on. While a low budget movie, it is well acted, and critically Lewis in the lead role is the stand-out performance. She is in nearly every scene and holds the audience's attention. While I could not figure out what was really happening until it was revealed, the explanation was a good one and left me feeling very satisfied. This is not a movie that is open to multiple interpretations; at the end you will get a definitive answer as to why this is happening to Claire. The movie is not for the faint of heart (again, you're watching someone get killed over and over), but the deaths feel more story-driven than gratuitous. It is precisely due to films like this one that deserve a bigger audience that I created this blog, and since this movie epitomizes the reason for this blog's creation, I am happy to make this the first movie reviewed here.

The following movie is in the Good category: This movie entirely takes place within a mock reality show which is on its seventh competition. Supposedly this is a series of episodes edited together. The show’s premise is that the show’s players, save the winner from the previous round are randomly chosen and all have to try to kill each other. The most prominent of these players is the reigning champion Dawn (Brooke Smith). The movie doesn’t explain why the players have to play the game or what would happen if all the players refused to do so; instead this is taken as a given in the TV landscape. Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead / Død snø 2 (2014): You Must See This Movie

The following movie is in the Good category: The Norwegian movie Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, original name Død snø 2 (2014) follows a survivor from the first movie (whom I won’t identify so as not to reveal which of the students live or die in the first one), as he pursues the Nazi zombies, still led by Herzog (again played by Ørjan Gamst) as they now try to raid a Russian village. He now has the ability to create zombies of his own and he is aided by three geekie American youth who call themselves the Zombie Squad.
